~Lip Balm Love~

I have never been much of a lip balm lover but recently I have fell in love with not one but THREE different brands!

Up first  is Mongo Kiss by Eco Lips. I first tried this one in the Vanilla Honey which I had received in one of my eco emi boxes and was amazed! Its very moisturizing and has the most amazing scent ! I was so surprised to find a lip balm that felt great on my lips AND smelled so great! When I later found that my local Whole Foods sold these I opted to try another flavor to see how it compared. I choose the Pomegrante but was somewhat disappointed. This one just  didn’t impress me very much, compared to the vanilla honey this was a watered down version. It doesn’t have much of a scent and to me is just somewhat bland.

Secondly, like one of my previous posts mentioned I recently unpacked a bunch of samples from monthly box subscriptions that I had never tried and found a bunch of goodies. One of these goodies was  a small pot of Mox Botanicals Lip Butter in Pomegranate & Fig. Although I am not much of a fan of products in pots that I have to apply with my finger I am hooked on this one! Again this product not only has a great texture but an amazing scent to it! Its a great fresh and fruity scent , unlike the Pomegranate Mongo Kiss this one truly delivers a great fruity lip balm.

Lastly my latest and greatest discovery is from In Love with Body Care. I found this brand while shopping at my local Natural Grocers and first purchased the Chai. This is honestly THE best moisturizing balm I have tried, I LOVE the texture and feel like my lips are silky smooth when wearing this. The scent is subtle which I actually like, its not overpowering and yet its not too bland. I actually went back a day later to try another one since I was so impressed!! Second time around I chose the Key Lime Pie and have to say it is another winner. They have so many flavors I can’t wait to try as well as a lip exfoliator that looks pretty awesome too!

Have you tried any of these? Is there another brand that you are loving that I am missing out on?

Aster + Bay Review

First of all, I have to say how much I love that this company allows you to purchase small sample sizes of their products to try out! I purchased the  macadamia + mandarin cleansing oil and the hydrating facial serum and have to say I loved them both and  plan on purchasing the full size products!

I have always been leery about trying a cleansing oil but since I was able to purchase a sample size for $4 I thought I would give it a go! Turns out I am actually loving this cleansing oil! I love that it makes my face feel so soft after using it and I really feel like it gets my face clean too. The directions state to massage onto your skin , hold a hot washcloth to your face  and then wipe off. I find this to be a really soothing way to end my day… the hot washcloth on my face gives me a spa-like moment to actually enjoy washing my face! This cleansing oil is made of 100 percent  plant & essential oils… I have listed the ingredients from their website below.

+ Organic Macadamia Nut Oil: High in palmitoleic acid, this oil has wonderful anti-aging properties. It’s light, non-greasy texture makes it an ideal cleansing oil for all skin types.

+ Hazelnut Oil: Considered to be an astringent oil, hazelnut oil is great for detoxifying the skin and pores. Eliminates blackheads and imparts a healthy glow.

+ Organic Sesame Oil: The Ayurvedic secret to radiant skin, sesame oil is packed with vitamin E. It has the ability to pull out dirt and toxins that have accumulated in the pores, while healing many skin problems such as acne and eczema.

+ Organic Castor Oil: A beauty and health oil that has been used for thousands of years by many cultures. Castor oil is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral. It soothes and heals the skin from many conditions, leaving soft, moisturized skin behind.

+ Essential Oil Blend: Three toning and purifying citrus essential oils help the detoxifying action of the cleanser, while imparting an uplifting and invigorating scent.

Next, I tried the hydrate facial serum. Again I was leery with putting an oil on my face as my skin can sometimes be on the oily side and prone to breakouts, but I found this to cause me no issues. The serum has a silky texture and does a really nice job at hydrating, the sample of this one was only $3 but came in a small tube which leaked during shipping so I was pretty bummed about that. I did see on their website that the full size bottles come with a dropper in a glass bottle which I like . Here is the full ingredient list for this serum.

Ingredients: Oils of: Camellia*, Rosehip Seed*, Avocado*, Evening Primrose*, Sea Buckthorn*, Buriti Fruit; Essential oils of: Rose*, Rosemary*, Helichrysum, Cistus, Sandalwood*; Extracts of: Jasmine*, Rosehip Seed*; Vitamin E (non-gmo). *organic

Overall, I loved both products and they even sent a notecard with a handwritten note which was a nice personal touch!  I love that this is a small husband and wife business – They really have a great message, so be sure to check out their story on their website. I am eager to purchase more of their products , they even have a grooming oil for men!  Check them out at http://www.asterandbay.com/

What I’m currently loving!

DeVita Solar Body Moisturizer– This is one of the first products I bought when I decided  I was going to be more conscious of my health and beauty choices and it is amazing! I love love love this stuff! Before buying this I never really wore a daily sunscreen but I can happily say this is already half gone and I will definitely be buying again! I love that this is not only fragrance free but also moisturizing as well.

Zum Rub in Frankincense & Myrrh- I purchased this after reading online about how great not only the smell is but also how it can be used as an acne treatment product. Seriously this has so many great uses all rolled into one little tin! I use this as a lip balm and well as a moisturizer for areas of dry skin. By far though my favorite use is on my face;. If I have a  bump forming all I have to do it rub this on before bed and it helps bring it up to the surface by morning! Truly amazing!

Juice Beauty CC Cream – I happened to find this sample when I was unpacking some things this weekend and was sooo excited! I have been wanting to try this product for so long now since everyone online has raved about it and let me tell you all those raves are right!!! This is a great cc cream and I love how it smooths away all imperfections! A must try for all!!!

Desert Essence Coconut Hand & Body Lotion– OMG! The moment I opened this up I was in love! The smell is amazing! Not only that but it also it thick , creamy and super moisturizing! I must purchase this in  full size !

One Love Organics Lavender Aromatic body serum- Okay so another product I was beyond thrilled to see I had a sample of as well! In case you are wondering… I have had numerous beauty box subscriptions and am only now getting around to trying their products out! Anyways I am loving  this product so much that I will need to purchase it before I run out so I don’t have to go without it!   This smells light and refreshing and makes my skin so soft when I apply it out of the shower. Looks for more One Love Organics product reviews in the future!

Mad Hippie Face Cream Review

Yay! My very first review! I picked up Mad Hippie’s face cream (Madhippie.com $25.99) when I was back home in North Dakota (shout out to Amazing Grains in Grand Forks… love you guys!)  and so far I am loving it!  I love that it includes argon oil as one of its ingredients as well as aloe vera and coconut oil and lots of other goodies! (I have listed the full ingredients from their website below.)I  have been using this in the am and pm and feel like it gives me a nice luminous glow. It also seems to be very moisturizing for me as well as I typically have somewhat dry skin. It has a fresh and floral type smell to it which I also enjoy (don’t worry its not very strong!).This is the first product I have tried from Mad Hippie but have heard that they also have an amazing eye cream and vitamin c serum.  Has anyone out there tried them? Thoughts?

The challenge lies in the fact that I love fashion, makeup and hair product just a tad too much and want to stay on trend as well as on budget! I have seen a lot of great blogs out there that have been a great resource to me and decided that I wanted to share my thoughts and my journey to a healthier lifestyle to others as well. Enjoy!
